I’m Dan Smart, a 32 year old website developer, based in Swansea, UK. I have worked in the software development industry for over 10 years, with experience in web development, mobile handset development, and mobile networks. My current focus is web development, working freelance with a number of clients, working both on design and implementation of websites and web applications with systems such as Wordpress, Joomla, and CodeIgniter. When I’m not developing websites and software, I am a keen runner, involved with mime performance group Innovo Physical Theatre, and also actively involved in my local church.

Why have I decided to have a blog?

There are always development insights that are gained from working on various projects, that can be shared and discussed in a forum such as a blog. To be able to be an active participant in web development, it is unwise to go it alone, but to both receive from, and contribute to the global development community.

What areas will be discussed?

The list of topics is as wide as the future of the web, however my intention is to include the following key areas:

- Mobility: how is the web becoming more mobile, what issues are there to take into account when creating a website for a mobile device, mobile browser advances, etc.
- Usability: discussions on how to improve the usability of the web, based on user requirement management, improved navigation, accessibility, etc.
- Coding: tutorials on HTML, CSS, Php, Javascript, JQuery, (etc), for all levels of coder; coding styles, code snippets of different or helpful ways of solving issues, etc.
- Design: discussions on design, other inspirational ideas.
